A perfect day yesterday for the first Wildlife Writing Workshop at the RSPB Loch Leven. I saw my first-ever sighting of the White-tailed Eagle which spread its magnificent wings and sailed above the waters in dazzling sunlight, its white head and rump clearly visible. A special treat for the ten of us trying to capture in words our special relationship with wildlife and nature. We were not disappointed! Inspiration came from red squirrels, gold-crest, kingfishers, mallard, mute and whooper swans, golden-eye, lapwing, pink-footed and grey-lag geese, just to mention a few! Thank you to everyone who shared their writing and inspiration. Here is a brief summary of my day:

“The day began with blackbirds, then the lonesome whoop of the whooper swan on arrival at Loch Leven. I thought the white-tailed eagle was the highlight but then, at close of day, there came the cat’s hiss of a barn owl, its white wings outlined by the moon against a slate blue sky.”
