About

Who am I? I’m a poet, short story writer, playwright and a creative writing tutor. Since 2017 I have been writing drama with Playwrights’ Studio Scotland and I write occasional blogs for RSPB Scotland Loch Leven, and run bi-annual creative writing workshops for the reserve.

My poetry and prose has been widely published in anthologies, online and in magazines such as the Scotsman, MsLexia, Gutter, The High Window, Scottish PENnings, Zoomorphic, Northwords Now, the Eildon Tree and Aesthetica to name but a few!

In 2022 I adapted a Wilson’s Tale for DunsPlayFest called the Freebooter of Coldstream and I write regularly for Borders Pub Theatre, which brings new writing to audiences through script-in-hand performances. My scripts have been performed at DunsPlayFest, the Eastgate Theatre, MacArts, Heart of Hawick and the County Hotel, Selkirk. My short play, “First Steps,” toured to sell-out audiences in the Borders as part of the “Unveiled Secrets” project with Odd Productions Theatre Company.

I also perform as a member of the trio Contrappuntistica with fellow poet and artist Philip Hutton and renowned pianist composer Brian Davidson. Our show of music and poetry played at the Eastgate Theatre, Carlops Village Hall and DunsPlayFest in 2022/23.

Child’s Eye,” my collection of short stories and poetry, explores love and loss in inter-generational relationships and was published by Biscuit Publishing. In 2022 I contributed several stories to Iced Gems, an anthology of stories, poems and other reflections from myself, Kathleen Mansfield, Margaret Skea and Oliver Eade. It is available from Amazon.

You can read some of my work here and find out about up-coming workshops and readings. If you would like me to run a writing workshop for you please get in touch. In the past I’ve run workshops for Live Borders, the RSPB, Edinburgh University, the Eastgate Theatre, Abbotsford House, Castle Craig Hospital as well as local schools and libraries.

I hope you enjoy navigating the site!
