Who am I? I’m a poet, short story writer, playwright and a creative writing tutor. Since 2017 I have been writing drama with Playwrights’ Studio Scotland and working as Writer in Residence for RSPB Scotland Loch Leven, writing a regular blog and running creative writing workshops for the reserve.
My poetry and prose has been widely published in anthologies, online and in magazines such as the Scotsman, MsLexia, Gutter, The High Window, Scottish PENnings, Zoomorphic, Northwords Now and the Eildon Tree to name but a few! My scripts have been performed at MacArts, Galashiels as part of TalkFest in the Borders (2018) and as part of Borders Pub Theatre, March 2019. I am a Borders Showcase Poet and Live Literature Author. “Child’s Eye,” my collection of short stories and poetry, explores love and loss in inter-generational relationships and was published by Biscuit Publishing.
Events to look forward to in 2019? In The Beginning by Borders Pub Theatre at the County Hotel in Selkirk on 23 March where my script will join seven other playscripts in a night of fast action and drama. Not to be missed! Also looking forward to the possibility of my 15 minute playscript, “First Steps,” touring the Borders this autumn if all goes according to plan!
You can read some of my work here and find out about up-coming workshops and readings. If you would like me to run a writing workshop for you please get in touch. In the past I’ve run workshops for the RSPB, Edinburgh University, the Eastgate Theatre, Abbotsford House, and local schools and libraries.
